about us

Fat Cat Books is a used book store and senior cat adoption center operated by the non-profit animal rescue Feline Advocates of Leon County. While we pride ourselves on our wide selection of books and boutique items, it is the cats that that make this place so special. Fat Cat Books provides a home for adoptable older cats who are waiting to be accepted into a family.

Although run by a non-profit, the book store itself, cannot take in cats. All cats come through our rescue and are fully vetted. All cats in the book store are spayed or neutered, micro-chipped, and tested for feline AIDS and Leukemia. Furthermore, it will have received its rabies vaccine and all of it's FVRCP and FELV boosters. They are all available for adoption through the rescue according to the requirements of the rescue. Ask the book store attendant for details.

If you have extra books around your house that are collecting dust, you are more than welcome to donate them to us. You can either bring the donations in during opening hours or you can drop them off on our front porch if we are closed. Since all of our books are donated to us we are able to sell them at very modest prices. Below is our pricing scale:

Paperbacks $4 per book

Hardbacks $6 per book

Kids Books $2 per book or $5 for 3 books

Magazines and Comics $0.50 each
